Paul has been working as a clinical psychologist for the last sixteen years. With earlier involvement in Youthline and 20 years in mental health nursing, Paul was fortunate to be part of the setting up and development of the Cognitive Behavioural Programme at Kia Marama, Dept of Corrections and while there, did his clinical psychology training. On completing his Diploma of Clinical Psychology Paul worked for eight years at the CDHB Anxiety Disorders Unit before moving into private practice as a clinical psychologist. Paul predominantly works from a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) aspect.
In 1999 he joined the Anxiety Disorders Unit, of the Christchurch District Health Board (CDHB), where he spent eight years honing his psychologist skills principally using the CBT model. On becoming an associate at the Bealey Centre in 2008, he was able to retain what has been a highly valued feature of his practice; being part of a collegial team approach that offers a wide range of clinical experience and wisdom for him to tap in and contribute to.
Paul has been a member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists (MNZCCP) since 2002.
I am a preferred provider to the Department of Corrections. I work predominantly with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to treat a number of emotional problems with adults, couples and young persons over ten years old.
